About

Thirty years of disciplined building.

Founded in Southern California in 1996, Skyland was built on a conviction that design integrity and construction responsibility must operate as one.

From the beginning, we focused on custom residential projects — homes intended as primary residences, not statements. Growth came through long-term client relationships and referrals, not advertising. Trust shaped the trajectory.

Over time, our scope expanded to include land planning, entitlement, development, and senior living — each extension guided by the same emphasis on structure, oversight, and durability. We build deliberately. We grow selectively. We remain accountable.

How we build

Design faithfully executed

Early experience translating drawings into construction documentation established a standard that has never changed: design intent is a promise, not an approximation.

Structure above all

Complex sites, demanding structural requirements, and long-term durability standards have defined our work. Homes are built to be lived in — not to impress.

Trust as method

Growth has followed long-term client relationships and referrals. Every expansion — from custom building to development to senior living — has been guided by clients who asked us to do more.

The team

Linda Cheng

Founder & Lead General Contractor

Thirty years in design and construction. Trained in architectural and structural design, Linda built Skyland on a single conviction: design intent must be executed faithfully, not approximated. Her hands-on leadership has shaped dozens of custom homes across Southern California — each one built as a primary residence, meant to be lived in and passed on.

Walter Patroske

Lead Architect

Thirty-three years of residential and commercial design. Walter brings clarity, depth, and creativity to Skyland's architectural language — balancing innovation with timeless elegance, and ensuring each home begins with a vision strong enough to survive construction without compromise.

Gil Evangeista

Lead Structural Engineer

Fifty years in structural design, land development, and site planning. Gil's portfolio includes landmark works such as the Guam International Airport and the Tesla showroom. At Skyland, he provides the technical foundation every complex project demands.

Gilberto Hernandez

Lead General Manager & Superintendent

Gilberto began as a framer at seventeen and spent two decades building deep site-management expertise. At Skyland, he oversees daily execution — coordinating teams, schedules, and quality control across residential and commercial projects.

Trusted collaborators

Beyond our core team, Skyland works with a close circle of architects, engineers, consultants, and specialists who have collaborated with us for many years. These relationships are built on trust, shared standards, and a common commitment to quality — not assembled project by project, but sustained over decades. Together, we form an integrated team dedicated to building spaces that endure.
